The game has been released by UK-based game maker 4DX Games, reports Mashable and idigitaltimes.com.

The game maker’s website says: ‘Weasel Woodpecker is inspired by the greatest photograph taken of all time and lets you experience the awesomeness of landing a weasel on a woodpecker’s back and soaring across the skies on your smartphone or tablet device.’

The game is available for Android devices now, and will be out for iOS users shortly, says 4DX Games.

Last week, amateur photographer Martin Le-May told Amateur Photographer how he captured the incredible shot while out walking with his wife Ann at Hornchurch Country Park in Essex.

Martin, who has been a photography enthusiast for the past 12 years, explained that he used a Canon EOS 70D and 300mm f/2.8 lens.

He captured the photo – which quickly went viral – using the camera’s program mode.

Martin, whose day job is a project manager, revealed that he had never had a picture published before, apart from images posted on Flickr.

The image began life as a simple post on a Facebook page accessible only to a group of Essex birdwatchers.

Martin said he has no plans to turn professional, despite the phenomenal success of his picture.

He captured the image at 1/640sec at f/4.5 and ISO 100.
