Dan Sakal, from Colchester, Essex was placed first in the 24 April round of the contest, which runs each week.
Dan said he captured his winning image while travelling around Thailand.
‘I took this at a tiger sanctuary where they don’t drug the animals, so when they get excited, they really get really excited and playful.
‘I shot it on my Canon 5D Mk III and used my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens on manual, so I could really control the light and shutter speed as the animals were so fast.’
He added: ‘This is just one of a series of shots, but I liked this one the best because of the angle and symmetry of everything.’
Winning images are featured both in the Telegraph newspaper and on its website.
Dan received a Nikon Coolpix S9500 camera worth £299.99 as a prize.
He graduated with a BA (Hons) Photography & Media Arts at the University of Creative Arts (UCA) at Maidstone last year.
‘Studying at UCA has made me look differently at the way I shoot – I feel that my confidence with a camera has improved and that I have a much better understanding of lighting and can quickly adapt to capture an image.’
