Epson has launched a pair of budget A4 flatbed scanners that allow photographers to scan 35mm film or slides.

Targeted at photographers wanting to digitise their film archives, the Perfection 3490 Photo and Perfection 3590 Photo are priced £79 and £99 respectively. They each boast a scanning resolution of 3200x6400ppi.

The built-in transparency unit on the 3490 Photo is designed to hold a four-frame strip of 35mm film or three frames of mounted slides. The 3590 model can hold six frames of 35mm film or one mounted slide, according to Epson.

Both feature USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connectivity and the ability to scan the image as a PDF file or attach it as an email.
