The mobile phone is ?spearheading a photographic revolution?, claims Sony Ericsson as it launches its hunt to find the 2007 Cameraphone Photographer of the Year.

?The search will pitch people of all photographic abilities against each other,? said Sony Ericsson?s MD for UK & Ireland John Harber.

?Last year?s Newsflash campaign was so successful that we wanted to extend the project to bring the competition to a wider consumer base,? he added.

The contest is not open to professional photographers and the closing date is 3 December 2007.

Entries can be uploaded and viewed at www.sonyericsson.com/thesearch.

There will be monthly prizes and an overall winner whose entry will go forward to the company?s global competition, called World View.

The UK winner will bag an all-expenses paid trip ‘covering five cities’, starting and ending in London.

Rules state that copyright in the photos passes to Sony Ericsson ‘for the duration of one year – after this time copyright reverts back to the entrant’.

The best images will appear in publications such as The Times newspaper.
