Samsung has expanded the lens range of its NX camera system to eight models with the introduction of five new lenses, including a new fast aperture pancake lens, a wide angle zoom, a macro lens and a wide ranging general purpose zoom.

Announced to coincide with opening of the PMA show in Anaheim, California, the additional five lenses give a boost the NX10 camera even before a fully working body has been released. Although the new optics were not on display at the press preview on the day before the show opened, a spokesman at the show was able to confirm that the new lenses would be:

  • 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6
  • 20mm pancake f/2.8
  • 60mm macro f/2.7
  • 18-200mm OIS f/3.5-6.3
  • 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 (non OIS)

The company was unable to estimate pricing for any of the lenses but was able to tell us that the non OIS version of the existing 18-55mm would be available next month while the 20-50mm and 20mm pancake lenses will be on sale in the second half of the year. No date has yet been set for the introduction of the 60mm macro lens or the 18-200mm zoom.

Check back for more news on the NX series as AP has several meetings with Samsung within the next couple of days.
