A photography lecturer from Sunderland has walked away with the top prize in a national digital photo competition organised by the Independent on Sunday and ICI.

Graham Stouph, who is a lecturer at Newcastle College, won a Canon EOS 20D digital SLR in the contest open to readers of the newspaper and backed by ICI Imagedata.

The competition was open to amateurs and professionals.

Graham won with a photograph entitled ‘Car Park, Newcastle’ (pictured).

Judges said they were impressed with Graham?s ?technical skill, movement and composition?.

Meanwhile, Katinka Goldberg ? a second-year photography student at Edinburgh College of Art used her Nikon D70 to win ICI Imagedata?s 2005/6 Olmec Student Digital Photographer title.

Her reward was more than £2,000 cash and an assignment for the newspaper.
