Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murdering a 55-year-old photographer in Gloucester on New Year?s Day.

Kim Hibberd died from injuries he sustained following an alleged incident near his home in the early hours of 1 January.

A spokeswoman for Gloucestershire Police today told Amateur Photographer: ?A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and has been bailed until the end of January.?

She added: ?Inquiries are on-going and the investigation is underway.?

The photographer was well known locally for his shots of county landmarks, as well as for animal and nature pictures.

Police said that Kim died from his injuries on 3 January in Frenchay Hospital, Bristol.

According to a report in The Citizen newspaper, the photographer was about to embark on a project to record the restoration of St Michael?s Tower, where he held an exhibition of his work last summer. The tower is one of the city?s oldest buildings, dating from the 15th century.
