Photographer Justin Gardner took the amazing shot, entitled ‘Man Vs Nature’, from his terrace in Figueretas during the Assumption of Mary Bank Holiday celebrations.

Justin said: ‘I went outside to the sound of fireworks and was blown away by the storm in the distance in an awesome display from both man and nature.

‘I set up my camera and used a long exposure with a few adjustments to the curves, crop and sharpening to create the final image.’

The photographer, who mainly works at music events, used a Canon EOS 5D Mark III with a 35mm f/1.4L lens, shooting a five-second exposure at f/4.5 and ISO 100.

Justin told Amateur Photographer he has recently discovered a new passion for nature and science.

Asked to share advice for capturing such images, Justin replied, ‘Patience and a tripod’.

He added: ‘I’m currently living in Ibiza, as I do every summer, working on various projects in both photography and filming.’ Justin says his hero photographer is British music photographer Kevin Cummins.

‘When I move [back] home, I’ll be dividing my time between Leeds and London working in music but branching more into food and drink, promotional and press photography/videography.’

Justin, a professional photographer for the past seven years, plans to capture even bigger storms when he goes travelling in 2016.
