Panasonic will have to limit the video clip mode on the UK versions of its latest ?HD? cameras because anything longer than 15 minutes will attract European import duty applicable to camcorders.

Earlier today Panasonic unwrapped the DMC-FT1 and DMC-TZ7 (pictured), both featuring the ‘AVCHD’ movie recording format used in camcorders.

Exceeding the 15min video limit would not justify a resulting UK price rise, said Panasonic’s UK product manager for Lumix, Mark Robinson.

The 15min limit means users will have to break their video footage into 15min slots.

The cameras are due to arrive in the spring.
