An ?official statement? released to AP in the wake of the magazine?s interview with US product manager Richard Pelkowski was in fact taken from an interview conducted by website Digital Photography Review with John Knaur of Olympus US after the Amateur Photographer story was published on this website. The ?statement? had been issued to AP after editor Damien Demolder requested an official response to Pelkowski?s claims that Four Thirds cameras would probably be mirrorless in two years. AP published the statement, but also commented that it failed to address the issues brought up in the original article. It is now clear that Knaur?s comments were made in response to a mistaken belief that Pelkowskit had said that the Four Thirds system would not exist in two years, rather than the system simply being mirrorless.
