Nikon is poised to raise the price of its cameras and lenses for the second time this year.
The price hike will take effect on 1 March.
‘The price increase is due to the relative weakness of Sterling and the continued strength of the Yen,’ said a UK spokeswoman this morning.
She added: ‘A range of product groups will be affected. However, the Coolpix series and selected digital SLRs will not see an increase.’
Asked which products will be affected, and the extent of the price increases, Nikon added: ‘Unfortunately we can’t give any more information until 1 March.’
An updated price list will be published on Nikon’s website at www.nikon.co.uk.
The announcement came just a month after Nikon’s first price rise of the year raised the cost of its D3X professional digital SLR camera by £500 ? a rise of 9% on its official launch price.
The January price hike was part of increases across the entire Nikon range which the firm blamed on ‘volatile exchange rate conditions’.
Nikon has not ruled out yet more price rises this year.
