Nikon?s D700 digital SLR camera has been voted Product of the Year by members of the Amateur Photographer (AP) website forum.

Nominees included Adobe?s Lightroom 2 imaging software, and the Panasonic Lumix DMC LX3 compact camera.

AP Forum moderator Nick Roberts (aka ?Benchista?) presented the award to Nikon UK?s managing director Michio Miwa and group marketing manager Jeremy Gilbert.

First introduced last year, the AP forum award requires users of AP?s website to nominate their favourite product of 2008.

Forum users were invited to vote for the best product from a shortlist of three and – after the votes were counted – the Nikon D700 came out on top, taking 45% of the total vote.

The AP Awards were presented in central London at an event attended by key figures in the UK photographic industry, hosted by AP Editor Damien Demolder.

To find out which products came tops in the main AP Awards – as voted by AP?s technical team – look out for next week?s issue of AP, in shops on Tuesday and available to subscribers from tomorrow.

? The name of the overall winning product will be revealed on this website later today
