Nikon has launched four new compacts and a Digital SLR, the D2HS. The £2500 sports pro targeted SLR model can shoot at 8fps for up to 50 images at 4.1 megapixels.

It supports the sYCC colour profile found in many of the latest printers for a wider range of colours when printing JPEGs.

Nikon also launched the Coolpix 7900 and 5900. Both models have a 2.0-inch LCD and new Graphic User Interface that lets the user select functions by either name or icon. They share a 38-114mm lens, while the 7900 has a 7.1MP chip and the 5900 has 5.1MP. Both models haveMulti AF with a choice of 99 manually selectable areas, five choices for Auto select AF and a new ?Face-priority AF? function. They offer four scene modes and can record VGA-size movies.

The Coolpix 5900 retails at £249 and the 7900 at £319.

Nikon?s fourth new model is the £299 Coolpix 7600. It has a 1.8-inch, 85,000-dot LCD and features Nikon?s new Electronic VR (Vibration Reduction) function, which can be activated during movie shooting to achieve more stable results.

Nikon also announced the £199 Coolpix 5600 and £149 Coolpix 4600, which have 5.1MP and 4.0MP respectively.
