The AF speed and precision of the Leica S has been boosted via a new firmware update, according to the German camera maker
Leica S (Typ 007) firmware update 188.8.131.52 is also designed to optimise white balance with manually entered colour temperature values. This should help deliver more precise skin-tone rendition when using flash. For full details visit uk.leica-camera.com
Leica Camera has released a new firmware update for the Leica S (Typ 007) medium-format camera. Registered camera users can log in to the Leica owners’ area and download the firmware version 184.108.40.206 (https://owners.leica-camera.com/en/login) or take their camera to a Leica Store or Leica Customer Care for a free update, as well as any advice they require regarding the firmware.
The installation of the new firmware update improves autofocus speed and precision, particularly in low ambient light, and therefore ensures consistently reliable and precise focusing – even in unfavourable light conditions. In addition to this, firmware version 220.127.116.11 offers optimised white balance with manually entered colour temperature values (kelvin), which ensures more precise skin-tone rendition when shooting with flash. Furthermore, the new firmware brings numerous other small improvements to the camera’s performance.
Both an update for the Leica Image Shuttle 3.1 dedicated workflow software, and the Adobe Lightroom tethered shooting plug-in are also available as downloads from the owners’ area. The OS X version of Leica Image Shuttle 3.1 for Mac is available now, and the version for Windows operating systems will be available in the near future. The Leica S app from the Apple App Store allows the remote control of Live View, autofocus and all other exposure-related camera controls from an iPhone or iPad. The app also enables browsing of collections of images, and offers an easy-to-use image-sharing option.
