The shop, at 15 Fitzroy Street, will offer training courses and an on-site lab for photo products ‘within the hour’.
There will also be rental and trade-in services, plus sensor-cleaning.
Store manager Robert Roberts said: ‘We are so pleased to be opening the doors of our new store just in time for Christmas.
‘We have an excellent team and a diverse range of services, so we are confident that we will have something to cater for everyone in Cambridge.
‘Our team will do a fantastic job to make customers feel they have received more than they came in for – from advice on cameras through to our range of services and Academy courses.’
The opening comes just days after Jessops opened a new shop in Exeter, Devon.
