Organisers are seeking images that best encapsulate Britain’s coast, seafarers and the sea.

Entries could, for example, depict the work of fishermen, merchant mariners, wildlife or seascapes.

The deadline for submissions is 7 August 2015.

The society’s chief executive, Commodore Malcolm Williams, said: ‘Since the launch of the competition, we have received an excellent response with entries again being of a very high standard.

‘With images portraying all aspects of UK’s love for, connection with and reliance on the sea, this year’s competition is certainly going to be a very tough one to judge.’

Judges include AP Editor Nigel Atherton and Sophie Battersbury, head of pictures at The Independent.
