Hewlett-Packard (HP) has today revealed four new flatbed scanners which are due for UK release in August, each featuring a built-in transparency adapter.

Top of the new range will be the Scanjet 4890 which is priced a penny under £200 and designed to scan up to 16 35mm slides or 30 negative frames in one batch in ?less than ten seconds?, according to HP.

The company says the 4890 is able to scan at a resolution of 9600x4800ppi and – like all the new models – includes HP Real Life technology which can be used to restore old or damaged photos, removing dust scratches and ?restore faded colour?.

Also boasting 9600x4800ppi scanning is the Scanjet 4850. It comes with a £99 pricetag and can scan up to four 35mm slides or six negative frames at once.

Meanwhile, there are two budget-priced models, the £69.99 Scanjet 4370 (7200x3600ppi resolution) and £59.99 Scanjet 3800 (4800x2400ppi).

The four scanners all include HP Image Zone software for enhancing and editing images and creating customised photo albums, for example.
