A woman fell into a volcano and died after stepping back to take a picture of her husband while on holiday in the Azores.

Gillian Blann, 58, from Edge Hill, Warwickshire died after falling into a volcanic pool of boiling liquid, an inquest heard yesterday.

Recording a verdict of accidental death the inquest heard that Mrs Blann had been on a sight-seeing trip and suffered second degree burns to 90% of her body. She died later after being taken to a burns unit in Lisbon, Portugal, according to BBC News.

The accident took place on 9 April last year.
