Fujifilm scotches X100 is dead rumour

July 31, 2012

The website of US dealer Crutchfield states that the X100, which was launched last year, has been discontinued and is no longer available to purchase.

This has fuelled speculation that a replacement model is being primed for the Photokina trade show which takes place in Cologne, Germany, in September.

However, when approached by Amateur Photographer, a spokesman for Fujifilm UK said: ‘The camera is still in production and is not discontinued as far as the UK is concerned.’

The 12.3-million-pixel model, which features an APS-C-size CMOS imaging sensor and a 23mm f/2 lens, was first unveiled at Photokina in 2010.

It includes a hybrid viewfinder that combines an electronic viewfinder with the ‘bright frame’-type optical viewfinder found in rangefinder film cameras.
