The latest digital compact camera to enter the 10-million-pixel arena is the soon-to-be-launched Cyber-shot N2 from Sony.

Boasting a maximum equivalent ISO of 1600 the 10.1MP model is expected on the UK high street next month.

Features include manual exposure control, a 3x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens and the ability to control shooting and picture playback functions via the 3in LCD ?touch screen?. The monitor can also be used to allow ?artistic additions? to photos using the supplied Paint Pen stylus, explains Sony.

The brushed aluminium-bodied debutante also includes eight pre-set scene modes, a slide show with music function and a 16:9 mode for reviewing images on a widescreen TV.

A UK price was yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.
