One of our favourite competitions, The Close-up Photographer of the Year, is closing on May 23rd, and we urge all fans of close-up and macro photography to enter. The overall winner receives £2,500, and each of the eight category winners receive £300.

“Our aim is to help people see the world anew,” said co-organiser and former AP staffer, Tracy Calder.

“We want to show them things they’ve never seen before, make them look again at something familiar, or wow them with the beauty and wonder of the world. We have a lot of fun announcing the shortlist and the best pictures go into our Top 100 online exhibition.”

An expert panel of judges, including AP Editor Nigel Atherton, Sandra Bartocha, Ross Hoddinott, Frank Canon and Kathy Moran (Deputy Director of Photography at National Geographic magazine) among many others will be judging the pictures.
