AgfaPhoto UK is ?trading strongly and is financially viable?, despite the news that its parent company AgfaPhoto GmbH filed for insolvency recently, claims a UK source.

Based in Leverkusen, Germany AgfaPhoto is the consumer imaging arm of Agfa which is operated by a group of companies owned by management.

AgfaPhoto?s products include film, memory cards, photo papers, chemicals and single-use cameras. It also provides an on-line printing service but it does not make digital cameras.

AgfaPhoto?s insolvency will be seen as the result of the market shift from film to digital though no-one at AgfaPhoto was available for comment on this.

In a statement AgfaPhoto said it plans to ?restructure and reorganise? in order to put itself in a stronger position.

A UK spokeswoman added that the British operation of AgfaPhoto ? which employs 70 staff – is independently run. She added: ?The situation with the holding company does not affect in any way, the day to day trading of the UK entity. The supply of goods and services to its customer base will continue unaffected and the company is optimistic that its business on a local level will continue to function without interruption.?
