Yellow tinge on old colour negs

While slowly digitising all my old slides and negs I`ve sometimes noticed a dirty yellow patchy "film" on some.

I`ve had varying degrees of success removing it.Sometimes a curves colour adjustment does the trick but not always.

Has anyone come across this annoying phenomenon? How do you deal with it?I`ve even resorted to giving a negative adjustment of yellow in ACR but that just make the photo look odd.

    Will it wash off?

Sorry to respond so late Roger,I`ve been unwell.

Washing it off never occurred to me but it may be worth a try.Trouble is I`m unaware of it until I see the scan. It`s far from apparent on the negs so I don`t know whether it`s on the emulsion side or not.I`ll have to list the troublesome ones and try out your suggestion one by one.

Has no one else seen this before?
