When I was a kid in Glasgow, we didn't go to school if there was snow on the ground...

...and if you believe that, can I sell you a share in this fine bridge? :p

I'll stick to my beanies and cashmere neck and head bands. Re Hygge headbands? They must have very small heads!

Not a Gear Grind but didn’t want to start a new thread.
Met a former work mate this morning. Hadn’t seen him since I retired nine years ago.
‘Hello Chris’ I said ‘Long time no see, you’re looking well, how’s things going’
‘Not good’ he said ‘My Dad died this morning……’
Must admit that stopped me in my tracks….. :(

I had a similar one last week. I bumped into the father of one of the kids I coached at rugby and went to school with my son. "How's Ben?" I enquired. "Haven't you heard? He had a serious car accident and we turned his life support off last week.". How on earth do you respond to that?

Not much apart from the how sorry I was to hear that news. He said that's ok you weren't to know. He said his Dad had been ill for quite some time so they were ready for it.
After that we spoke for quite a while on what we were both doing now and what we did when working together. I actually think it cheered him up a little, for a short time anyway.

Also not a gear grind as such, this would really suit an unhappy thread
I had a jab this afternoon - in the left eye - hopefully to prevent further macular degeneration, I now have 4 black balls floating in left eye vision, I wouldn't mind so much if they kept still, but every time I move my head or look in a different direction it's like somebody is doing a juggling act

It has happened to us a few times over the years, when someone we haven't seen for a long time asks after Hannah. It is awful for us telling them she died, but I really feel sorry for the enquirer but most just say how sorry they are and cut the conversation short.

RAF exercise going on here this week. Those Typhoons sure are noisy but they seem to be invisible in the sky. Every time I think one is overhead, I can't see it at all.
