Steak and ale pie (got a couple from the Lidl "Deluxe" range reduced to clear for 75p today so I'll have the other one tomorrow. The ale is Threakston's Old Peculier), roasted a couple of carrots/asparagus spears with the pie and served with broccoli and Jersey Royals. Very nice but I made a bit too much so I am now temporally (I hope) paralysed

Sunday lunch was a pot of beef stew and a frozen baked potato done in the microwave. Had a glass of Rioja with it.
Yesterday evening it was a silly burger with a bottle of Fuller's 1845.

Traditional Sunday roast with roast beef and seasonal veg. This was accompanied by slightly less than half a bottle of red Côtes du Rhône.
I accidentally slightly overcooked the beef but it was still better than the way my mum used to cook it. The roast potatoes and parsnip were perfect. Gravy was up to standard as were the carrots and cauliflower. The metaphorical icing on the cake was a generous serving of thick asparagus shoots cooked to perfection.

Went for pub lunch (first go over a year) today with two grandchildren and the 16 year old came away with a part time job waiting on!

Prawns sautéed in butter with a few finely sliced scallions, with a sweet and sour sauce added, accompanied by boiled egg noodles that were then stir-fried with julienne carrots and shredded green capsicum in sunflower oil with a dash of sesame oil. Most excellent.

Chippy tea: cod, chips, bread & butter, and a steaming mug of tea.

Got a table booked in a pub for tonights dinner. Nice to be a bit more normal again. Even sat inside one yesterday and had a pint (And I also sat outside another one for another pint!)
I am on holiday after all.

Eggs, chips and beans, just wanted something quick but it was really nice with a couple of thick slices of seeded bloomer to mop the yolk and the bean sauce up
