What Did You Have For Dinner?

    Shh. The tin and sachets of soup are meant to be a chef's little secret. I also like to use smoked bacon lardons in chicken dishes.

    Slow roasted pork with cider and apples. Should have been enough for 6 servings, will likely now just do 4...

    When recipes say it feeds 4 or 6 or whatever, I often wonder 4 or 6 what. Infants? Either that or we are pigs.


    I made cottage pie last night. Enough left for tomorrow night. We will be roasting a chicken today for either chicken Caesar salad or a risotto.

    It did. Fresh rolls from the newsagents - best in town. Homemade soup. Just the thing for this time of year. Expect to see more of same in near future!!!

    Teryaki marinaded venison steaks. Herself is still going on about how good they tasted. About to have the leftovers in just baked (bought part baked) rolls.

    Think I'm going to have a bitty dinner.
    Got an avocado (ready)
    Poached salmon just done and in the fridge.
    A Brussels with shallots pate.
    Oatcakes and crackers.
    Plums

    Having had some of the leftover pork for lunch, dinner will be corn on the cob (last time this year perhaps) with either tofu or quinoa and salad.

    My favorite Pork chop, onions, sprouts and roast spuds followed by rice pud.

    I've had a bit of an upset stomach for a few days so not much of an appetite so today I was bloody ravenous so I had 2 steak and onion pies (only small ones) 2 tubs of creme caramel and for afters 5 cream crackers loaded with Brie and there may well be chocolate in the next few hours

    I was my wife's birthday, and our daughter and family came to dinner - roast leg of pork with baked vegetables.

    This evening the best parts of half a roast duck. That's boring. I committed a terrible crime against good taste. Of course we all experiment with mixing fruit juices. Many experiment in blending their favourite cocktail concoctions. I mixed Louis Jadot Macon Villages, Les Petiites Pierres , a modest but very decent white Burgundy with Henry Weston's Aged medium dry vintage cider. I know that it is wrong but it it goes well with slow roast duck.
