I'm moving to Geneva in October. My company have provided a flat for me to live in for the first 3 months and it has a free wifi connection but only the bog standard cable TV (with only CNN and BBC World News in English). In order for me to get the iPlayer etc I need a UK-based internet connection and I think a VPN is the only way to get this from abroad?

I have found this VPN provider and I wondered if anybody had any experiences with these or could recommend other VPNs? Or is there an alternative way of getting the iPlayer abroad?

Sky is an alternative, officially sky can't sell you any services in Geneva, but so long as there's a UK address for the subscription they won't know. There are companies specialising in selling Sky gear abroad - I looked into it when living in Holland a couple of years ago - but I don't have any URL's for you.

    Hi Tony,
I did that when I lived in Basel. Worked a treat in my apartment with south facing balcony to put the dish on. But there's the trouble, I won't have anywhere to put the dish (nor do I really want to pay Sky a subscription and the local TV licence (Billag in Switzerland)).
