There's also the payments for a secondary accommodation if you live too far away from home; HMP Reading is available, it would provide MPs with really secure accommodation, in-house catering facilities and also has an extremely well kitted-out gym.

 

I have to ask- how do you know that?

 

And why does a prison have a facility to improve the physical fitness of inmates likely to commit crimes of violence upon release.

Not all prisoners are in for violent crimes and not all are likely to commit violent crimes upon release.

 

In my opinion there is only one sensible reason to put someone in prison: to prevent their harming other people. If you are going to let them out, I think they should be as unfit as possible.

So why go to the cost of banging 'em up. There are other more constructive and less expensive ways of them paying for their misdemeanours.

 

Possibly safer for them (the prisoners) than being in the Community on licence.

 

It’s good to know MPs can take on several part time jobs and have plenty of time left over to represent their constituency.
