Can I just say how nice it was today to see AP back at 82 pages? and that's not counting the advt supplement in the middle.

Agree up to a point. A lot of it seemed like advertorial leading up to the buying of Christmas pressies.
If in some homes , a highlighted article, left open at the page, results in the right present, then that's fine:)
As a user of two cameras, I rather liked that Hold Fast harness; Sadly no UK distributor, and they are a bit expensivley posh. The clue is the classy equipment being secured by the harness.

I felt the weight but haven't read it yet. I agree it's nice to have a thick volume!

Thanks Andrew, I have used OpTech in the past but was unaware of their current offering.
Pete, How can you not even quickly scan a newly received publication? On Tuesday mornings, after picking up Radio Times, I don't put it down until I have done the Sudoku.

Because I chose not to. I can speed read but I'd rather take my time.

Letter of the week is totally incomprehensible. If there is an in-joke I'm missing it.

Reference to a rapper Vanilla Ice, real name Robert van Winkle, and a rap "Ice Ice Baby".

Its not my sort of thing but easy enough to find via Google.

I haven't read it - there were no copies of AP in the shop the other day when I went in. Did they close with Zeiss Zeiss Baby by any chance? If so, no relevance whatsoever but a nice ice zeiss rhyme for the sake of it perhaps?

Sorry, I usually make a rule not to mention content until Tuesday when it hits the shops.

A pun, ah ! Very obscure.

Actually it was "Nice Zeiss Baby"
There are quite good discounts on the subs at this time of year. I got hooked years ago.

Late to the party here, but it was odd.

IIRC, the sub-editor knew Vanilla Ice's real name (was in the cross heading), not the letter writer.

Well, unless the sub-editor took the reference OUT of the letter?

    Anyway....

For the past few weeks SWMBO has failed to spot AP in various supermarkets so I had a look. Why does it look like one of those supplements advertising velcro slippers and other aids for the elderly that fall out of tv magazines?

Velcro slippers? For the elderly? Is the idea that you stick a pair of velcro-soled slippers on grandpa so that he can't make a speedy or stealthy escape across a shag pile carpet? I can imagine some of the more frail seniors ending up fixed to the spot by some heavy-duty velcro on a decent Axminster!

    Cheers, Jeff

I was in the chemist when another elderly gentleman asked for his Viagra tablets to be cut into quarters. When advised that this dose would'nt have the full effect he said he just wanted enough of an effect to prevent him peeing on his slippers.

Not sure what you mean, Jim. Are you saying because it's quite thin?
