Old gate at the level crossing near to my old house. It has since been replaced with a big ugly metal contraption which, while no doubt safer, made me cross every time I opened it.
We have a nice wooden one (Shortwood Common) , with a minor excess of signage! Rail crossing gate by Steve Higgins, on Flickr
I don't seem to have much on gates but here's a couple. A gate on Butser Hill... Gate onto Butser by Nigel Hayes, on Flickr The Illuminated Gate...
St. Malo - this may look like a door but in all probability it's a gate opening onto a courtyard of some description. Halifax Copenhagen - meet you under the sign of the crossed pistols! Lynn
Two gates by Steve Higgins, on Flickr half way along the southern boundary of Shortwood Common. The one on the left is for walkers, the one on the right for horses?
Every time I go to Cambridge I try to get into Kings Chapel and one day I will get a picture that does it justice! Last weekend I got closer than I have beforrer. Anyway this is the gate thread so here is Kings Gate. If this were the appraisal section I would have corrected the "tomb stoning" in the Chapel but in fact I rather like it
Maddy following me down to the beach and sensibly waiting to cross the railway line. Behind her, the kind of gate they used to replace the pretty white wooden one.
