It is a design winner! Still catches the pips for me. This one I actually bought only last year. You can still get them. :)

That's so funny - I just bought the exact same model (for a photo prop) in a charity shop in Glasgow yesterday. 50p! (Along with a Crown Staffordshire art deco bachelor teaset which might not have been 'cheap' but which I absolutely adore. I've told my other half it's a photo prop but actually it's just because I love it!)

For reason's I'll maybe go into later, I was looking for a jigsaw during my charity shop hunt yesterday. Stumbled upon two from '..a Series of 6 Pictures' which amused me greatly. This one was called Still Life and the white balance was of the manufacturer's choosing.

There was also one called Rowing:

(I now need to collect Mountain Lake, Puppies, Traction Engine and Cottage to compete the most random 'series' I've ever heard.)

Anyway, the Still Life. This reminds me that cookery books used to have the most awful photographs to accompany the recipes. It was like they didn't want you to enjoy the food! What I can't quite get over here is the sheer volume of random stuff. I can see copper pots, blue and white plate, an empty wine bottle, coconut, lentils, popcorn, runner beans, a geranium, garlic, marrow, a lemon squeezer (they're everywhere at the moment) and...a hat! What on earth?

I make my own on MS Jigsaw. They are very addictive. Remember we were in Madeira and it rained solid for 4 days, so I went out and bought a 1000 piece Snow White & 7 Dwarfs. When the rain stopped we passed it on to kids of a German family.

David and I used to have fun with jigsaws. For some weird reason, I liked doing the self-coloured bits, such as skies.
Anyway, these were fun, for different reasons.
I gave almost all of them away when I moved.

I quite like what this artist does although not necessarily to my taste. A manufacturer generally uses the same pattern for different jigsaws. This guy mixes them up. Quite clever. Some are better than others. I don't have the patience for jigsaws, so I can't see me trying to do what he does!

Ooh thanks for that link! I was originally wanting to do something quite similar which is why I was on the lookout for two jigsaws from the same source...not quite what he has done because I wasn't going to take the time to make an interesting composition - just interrupt the original in ways that made it 'uncomfortable' to look at. However, happenstance has meant that there's a simple still life to be made which will give me a different but hopefully still useful point. If I get it done today I'll share it here.

Two crinkly ones left. I think I'll almalgamate them with sausagemeat and make patties. Ha!

    Straight edges first.

Lovely. Have to get my thinking cap on. I keep talking about doing still life now I'm hiding away, but never seem to do any.

Yes I always do the border first, but they're all on screen.

This is probably one of the least colourful I've made and about the 30th from my transport signage project, but I just thought it would be complicated and take a bit longer. You can see from the box top that there are a lot of shades of grey and a lot of patterns.

I must see if there's an Apple version of that - it looks fun and would take up less room than a physical jigsaw. We're all currently leaping over the one I have out on the living room floor!

I bought these with a view to photographing them although I was hoping to mix them up to create a new image that was almost right, but not quite. Something about the awfulness of the pictures on the lids amused me too so I bought more than I really needed. I suspect they were all donated by the same person because each one had a different container in that separated out the straight edges and corners. They all reeked of old cigarette smoke too. I happened to open this one last and I don't know, something about an old fag packet made me think of someone old and lonely. And a cheat! Half the fun is searching for the edges!

Actually, I think the public record needs more shots of what we are doing on our computers. Not the porn obviously. But this is interesting to me, this move to screen based activities.

This one is proving to be every bit as hard as I thought it would. Taking forever. Must be a Mac version.

Yes RPS asked me for suggestions for things to replace all their meetings and activities and I reeled off all we were doing here with the subjects and competitions.
