Sony Alpha 77 - user first impressions

    A65 is consumer level construction ie not magnesium alloy.

    Second the AF system is lifted from the A55 not a new system like the A77.

    No top LCD either.

    The backscreen only double hinged.

    More important can only do 10fps and max shutter is 1/4000. No X socket as well for flash.

    But the body is abit smaller which might please some. There are fewer buttons on the rear.

    There is question over if the ISO is capped at 1600.

    I have the A65. A65 has the same AF as A55 does. With few improvements.

    1. It has object tracking, as A77 does, but it is less powerful then in A77. A65 cannot adjust focus based on contrast AF, it only tracks the object and does not adjust AF if the object ran out of phase sensors range, while A77 can adjust focus, even if the object is not in one of phase points.

    2. A65 can select one of 3 groups of sensors - right, center, left. A55 has no such ability.

    3. AF is somewhat faster and more accurate.
