Sony Alpha 200 not turning on

I have a Sony Alpha 200 which for some reason will not turn on. Bought a new battery which didn't fix the problem, checked voltage of both to make sure they were charging and the original was actually fine, annoyingly.

£170 to send to Sony, don't think that's worth it for this but i'm now left with the decision of what to do next. Is this a common problem that I could fix myself with a replacement part? For the amount I use it i'm tempted to move away from a DSLR and just get a TZ40/60 Lumix point and shoot but just seems such a waste of a great camera. Plus I have just bought a brand new battery and have a mint 75-300mm lens for this..

Any advice would be greatly received.

If the camera isdead it isn't going to be worth fixing. I would just look out for a used body that uses the same battery. Well sub £200 will even buy a relatively recent A37.
