I’ve just read elsewhere that the team of the winner are going to top up her prize money to equal that of the mens race. She’ll be getting 30,000 euros, up from 1,535 euros. Well done Trek-Segafredo and Lizzie Deignan

Would agree that the prize money when compared to the men’s race was poor. However it was the first time there’d been a women’s race, and for Lizzie Deignan to be the first name on the trophy probably makes it a whole lot better. That cobble stone sure looked heavy.

I’d imagine that all the years training on the Yorkshire lanes was perfect preparation for the Hell of the North farm tracks.

Did tha know they discovered asphalt in Yorksheer, but felt it was unsuitable for roads as it made thee soft for riding in t'coach...

Worth mentioning a cracking men's Paris-Roubaix. Epic scenes in the mud, and the joy of the winner.

Another RTBC is that the thoroughly unpleasant Moscon didn't win, despite looking strong for quite a while.

It was back to how I remember Paris Roubaix used to be. Mud, mud & more mud. Excellent viewing. The skills of the motor cycle riders & cameramen don’t get the praise they deserve. Really is one of sports major occasions.

** Personally my favourite race is The Tour of Flanders, but having said that, yesterday’s Paris Roubaix will take some beating.

Thanks, John. I looked earlier, but it seemed a bit clunky. Hopefully, it will improve.

Thanks for the link - sadly, I'm not liking what I've found.
Why so many "sticky" items at the top of the forum listing? Far too much of a time waster getting past them.

    Today's reason to be cheerful:

Nick Robinson telling Bogoff to "Stop Talking" on Radio 4's "Today" programme! :D :D :D

30 years ago it rained. It turns out it wasn't a bad omen.

Like your blue satin dress. Blue bridesmaids were all the rage back then...

Well, the ultrasound scan showed nothing, just awaiting the CT results.

The NHS doesn't hang about around here.

You should tidy up the photo, there's a weird shadowy thing on the top of your head...

Don't know if it's a reason to be cheerful or what grinds my gears, but I came close to losing my temper today when shopping. Blooming woman was right at my back reaching over for the paper towels as I wiped my trolley and wanted it for my hands. I told her where to go. She did.
