Police read out injunction to Protester's and Media..

Protester's fight back, albeit verbally, with a proclaimation, from the 1760's, stating that Natives/First Nations and guests can't be removed from Native land which was, subsequently, rebuffed by a member of the Native band in question...

The removal of Protester's begins..

And the protester's limo departs.....

BUT, not all the protester's were taken away.......right away

Although the protester (above) would be removed by the RCMP who have a group of officers who specialise in removing 'high rise' protestors  and the protester (below) was not arrested, searched nor taken away in the paddy wagon which was not commented upon..

In fact this was, and I quote a CBC reporter,
and what was, also, interesting is the fact that not one of the protester's were handcuffed and there was no force involved in the removal  which, of course, makes for an easier day for all involved :) ...

What a nice bunch of "tree huggers". Let's hope their protest did some good, even if ultimately all they can do is say "well we tried". Well done to the RCMP for handling it so tactfully as well...........................and of course well done to our intrepid "tree hugging" reporter "Jack" for documenting the whole thing.

Re: Protester's arrested and removed from Eagle Ridge Bluff...UPDATE..

...UPDATE...the protesters came back this (Monday May 29th) morning including a number who had been arrested and the one fellow who wasn't -- see below -- but was the first (1st) person to go across the exclusion line after listening the police officer -- also in the photo below -- warn the protester's of the consequences of doing so .

Of course, I wasn't there this morning so I got to see it on TV:rolleyes:.

Cheers,

Jack

From the British press, it's difficult to get a clear picture of what this is all about. Some reports describe those involved as having a true interest in the local ecology and the loss of rare specimens and habitat - other reports say that they are a bunch of NIMBYs - well-to-do property owners who do not want a new road in the vicinity of their houses.

What's your take on it Jack?

It's great to have our own special reporter on the spot . . . . thanks . . . . :)

Morning Chris,

Hate to give a politician's answer but I would say it is: six(6) of one(1) and 1/2 a dozen or the other :D with regards of the Nimby's vs the true ecology buffs BUT I would venture to say that the one's who went to gaol and don't live in the area are more 'ecology
buffs'....and, FWIW, here are some of the reports from the local media:

Firstly, the CBC

Secondly, from the horse's mouth...The Coalition to save Eagle Ridge

Thirdly, from two(2) years ago...to the day...a report from a local (alternative) online magasine

MacLean's .....Canada's news magasine

An "op/ed" piece from the North Shore News...local newspaper

The North Shore News.... the local (area) newspaper

There ya' go Chris (et al) that should keep ya busy trying to figure out the real angle....

:D

Thanks Jack - the only thing clear is that the situation is unclear . . . . . :D

We've had similar situations from time to time and I think even Solomon would be stumped.

Morning Chris,

The situations is very similar to weather forecasts....the consistency is the inconsistency .

Jack
