Now why does he remind me of Oscar Wilde?
    Or even... Mrs?

I'd have said George Mellie. Before he filled out...

He was a real cool dude that’s for sure. The way he walked and dressed I’d have put him as a model. Considering they were taken at 2.30 in the morning and I was half cut, I’m actually quite pleased with how they came out, too!

Could do with a new pair of trousers. Ones which fit...

I think it might be trendy for the younger folk. :)
IIRC he couldn’t afford socks either.

You did a great job. Should have said. Great to be able to go wandering when there's not too many people around.

These 2 were just random shots as I was making my way back to my hotel after meeting my friends and consuming some alcoholic beverages rather than a wander and happened to be following him in the tube station.

Interesting, Nige. In a vaguely similar vein, I've noticed that when I take a shot without even looking through the viewfinder (o_O) I often get quite a good image. Makes me wonder whether trying to get a 'proper' composition might (sometimes) actually be detrimental to the chances of achieving that.

I remember reading that one of the Americans, possibly Garry Winogrand IIRC eventually gave up using the viewfinder and just pointed the camera 'in the right direction', it never works very well for me though, lack of practice I suppose.

Suppose it depends on how wide angle the lens is. Dead loss strategy with a telephoto.

I think it was a 28mm lens on a 35mm range finder camera.

Well remembered @zx9r! You've just jogged my memory... I've read that somewhere before about Winogrand, but I had forgotten.

Edit: And I think you're right about him using a 28mm.
