There were lots of beadles at one time. They did everything from running the watchmen (predecessors of the police) to collecting rents for the church and/or town council. They often took charge of civic charities, such as the poor house and served writs on behalf of the local magistrates. They gradually died out as a group, their duties being taken over by more specialised organisations. Those that remain are either ceremonial or are clerical staff.
Playing with some iPad shots Heather took for me today but for some reason it won’t work , any ideas?
Think we need more clues, like what part does not work?
Sarah - at rest for exactly 1 second!
seems to be working today. Must have been me
And another. I’m not feeling so good and Heather took these for me to play with. I converted using Pixelmator Photo shot with the iPad.
I am pleased it is working for you today.
(Ask Heather to move the plant to the left or right of the gap between the cupboards next time but nice conversion on the last one with interesting structure to the plant too. )
Collected my son from the coach station last Friday evening, his first weekend visit from Uni. As I had bought a (used) modern camera during the week I thought it only right to experiment with the kind of low light hand held photography that was not possible with any of my old cameras.

1600ASA equivalent at 1/8th second hand held, something unthinkable with my old mk1 EOS 5D.

What's an HC Mike?
I'm guessing highly commended - and deservedly so
Yep. But quality of entries was very high, with one absolutely top creative photographer stealing the show.
What group / society was that in Mike?
Only my local one, Epsom CC.
