    Absolutely. It's one subject where wet printing wins - you pay for the silver whether you use it or not - deep blacks with an inkjet doesn't bear thinking about :)

    I just meant that ink-jet printing #1105 would use a tank of black ink - expensive!

    I see, I'll bear that in mind, or maybe leave it to the printers to sort out?

    Yes - not so much an issue. I was thinking from a DIY standpoint. Printer use large format printers which have large ink tanks and costs get averaged over all their work, though some printer machines give ink-used-per-job information. If you were doing your own printing with very heavy shadows or pure blacks on an A3 photo-printer then you'd get through a lot of black ink!

    With a wet darkroom you process a piece of photographic paper and it costs the same whether the image is white or black - though for black the developer solution would weaken faster.
