Thank you Pete :) I must say that this forum has helped me immensely, just seeing other's photos and reading all the comments plus looking at links to other photographers etc.
It's been a bit like a photography degree for me :D The members on here have been very helpful and generous with their advice, I often hear myself repeating things in my head that someone has said...it all goes in somehow. And I thoroughly enjoy all the aspects of photography.

This was taken around ten years ago and has set on my PC since, it was taken inside the Köln Dom which has very low light on a dull day, hand held on APX400 pushed to 1600 in a Leica M2 with Canon 50mm f/1.4 LTM lens.
Over the years I have had four goes at editing it, this was my attempt last Sunday, it is as close to how I remember the feel of the cathedral on the day. At the time I was regretting not bringing a digital camera on the business trip, if it were today I think I would have just used my phone but I think I would have converted the results to mono.

I just looked out of the front window and saw a group of sheep being lit up by the last of the sun. Obviously the shadows were not as dark as this!

Similar examples can be found all around town if the sun is out and the angle of its rays is suitable.
This is a photograph of steps with railings. I've turned the image through 90 degrees. As meerkat Aleksander might say: "Simples".
