I don't think I've posted this one before. A friend and I managed to get her to pose for us a couple of months ago. It was taken using natural window light with a reflector to provide fill light.

I really like that one. It has a sort of ethereal look to it. Love the way she isn't smiling.

Perhps ethereal isn't the right word, but i'm sure you get my drift.

Thanks Nige. We told her not to smile as we didn't want the shots to look like 'for mum' type photos, if you know what I mean. :)

And it worked, it certainly does not look like that.

It actually reminds me of an album cover but for the life of me I cannot remember which one.

You should enter it in the Taylor-Wessing! :p

That is very effective. The vignetting is a bit heavy for my own taste

I think in this case the vignette helps make this photo. IMO of course.

    Dear Adrian,

Exactly my feeling. Possibly as part of a series of other unsmiling children.

It's hard to get a good, original picture of a child with a smile but arguably the Taylor Wessing has made it even harder to get a good, original picture of a child without.

It's a superb portrait. Just a bit too Taylor Wessing for my taste.

:D Thanks for all the comments. Oddly enough Catriona suggested I enter another shot I took of my daughter into TW a few years ago. maybe some time I will.
