    I must say it was one of those who spotted that I was severely dehydrated and only barely conscious when they picked me up to go to theatre once. The doctor/nurse had way overestimated my weight (I was 8 stone at the time), given me far too much pre-med and as a result it was all a botch up. The others in the ward thought I must have died in theatre because I was out of the ward for hours and hours. The next time I went into hospital they were very careful to weigh me beforehand! That time they gave me fluids intravenously which helped a lot.
    So yes, those who carry out that escort duty do seem to have more intelligence about the patient's status and well-being!
