i could never afford a full fisheye, wouldnt be able to justify the cost of one so the cheap and cheerful option would do me,for the occasional quirky shot.

Thanks for all of the great advice. Canging the subject slightly. Does anyone know of any websites where you can download instruction manuals from ? I`m after the instruction book for the Canon 540 EZ speedlite.

Not a download, but try http://www.eos-magazine.com, and click on the "sales" link then on "Canon instruction manuals". These are the real McCoy - not copies - and are reasonably priced.

    Rob,

Heck, I even bring down my own gear to help somebody try a lens or
a flash, if necesary. This afternoon, we had a gentleman come with
some 'thread-mount' gear and I let him use an old Pentax SV to try out
a lens. And, even if they don't have a roll of film we always some
inexpensive film that they can shoot and we try to get them to process
the film here...............but we don't insist on it. Mind you,
nobody gets to try on PhotoVests without paying for it up front/img/wwwthreads/wink.gif.

Thanks. Ok back to Lenses. What are your opinions on the Sigma 28-105 2.8-4 lens ?

Also can anyone suggest a book for flash photography that covers all of the basics in an easy to understand format ?

    Q1. none
Q2. not sure on this one, its worth looking at the sections on flash in many books is my current feeling. I personally have got more good info that way than by a complete overview that by its nature is going to be generalised.

I do have a book by Susan McCartney (Mastering Flash Photography) which you're welcome to have for a fiver

Tim in the answer to my first question you said "none". Does that mean that you don`t have an opinion on it, or, the lens is so bad that you would rather not comment ?

Ok so you have the lens and the body along with a good flashgun now its just a good film. The film I use mainly is Fuji Superia 200. I`m thinking of trying out slide film, what advantages will i get from slide film over print film ? Also if i scan in slide film will i get better results than scanning in a negative. Can you also sugest a good E6 film ?

Very happy with Velvia & Provia 100F right now, oh and Agfa Scala (which isn't E6 but we'll let that pass!)

    Gavin,

Not a bad lens if it was still available! I had a customer from
Brussels with one who was using it with a Nikon D100 (digital) camera
and he seemed quite pleased with it.
