    A chap at work asked me how he could get into 5x4 etc. without the expense. I made some general suggestions about old MPP's or pin-hole cameras, but then the processing was going to be a problem.

    The answer is very simple. Load the darkslides with ordinary B&W photo paper and dev as normal. The resulting print can then be scanned and inverted by even the cheapest scanner. Multi-grade could even be used with the filters, although the effective ISO will be about 5 - 10.

    This method even makes 10x8 usable. Paper could replace film in just about any camera this way when cut to size and cheaper than Polaroid or film.
