.. and never seems to find this room where the last posting was over two weeks ago. Or are we in a monority?

WE were promised a nice new site a long time ago, it certainly needs to catch up with the rest of the world. I likje thge clear uncluttered way the current site works but it could stand a bit more functionality.

Well I haven't a clue what the other "hidden" rooms are, and I don't come in here because I never think of it. But I reckon B&W photography deserves a place on the main board.

I agree. Since 'What Digital Camera' is now effectively dead, surely it'd be a better use of the site to replace that with the BW forum?

If something's not worth doing, it's worth forgetting about.

I hope not. I hope to visit this page now and again myself as I am experimenting with mono which I absolutly love and intend to make more of. I am not possesed of a darkroom so depend on labs for developing. Does anyone want to stick their neck out and recommend a good one? Would you suggest a "digi" room rather than a darkroom? And what about all these new C41 mono emulsions, are they up to it?

Look forward to some replies in less than a fortnight

Didn't quite make the fortnight, Colin (when will they put this forum on the main board?) I'm afraid I only use a darkroom at present for developing films - my enlarger looks at me with big droopy eyes but I can't find it in me to plug it in again.

The C41 films are excellent - try different ones and mini-labs can;t really mess the negatives up too much (unlike the resulting prints). Really good mono fun can be had by scanning, photoshop and printing.

Thanks for the advice Clive. I would agree about the inconsistent quality of prints from mini labs processing C41 chromogenics. I would also agree that with the resurgence in interest in monochrome photography, this board should have more prominence.

Like your site by the way. I recognised a few, particularly on the infra red pages.I also found the still life pictures inspirational as I hope do more of this myself over the winter months.

I just gave my enlarger away when I moved house...sniff...

Nowhere to put it, bathroom is smaller than the loo that's inside it I think...
