    Obviously if the 'owner' lives abroard, this is a rather expensive method, but the concept of naming and shaming litterers could also work quite well over here as well, especially if on the packaging for all to see in large letters, is: 'Here's your rubbish back'. Organisers of events probably via ticket sales, already have their addresses.

    Good idea in theory, but is it creating more junk mail by having to register when visiting a place and also receiving your trash back

    My mum's old boss did this on a grander scale. Fed up with people flytipping on his small holding, he caught one in the act and followed them home. He then proceeded to load a tipping trailer with every speck of rubbish dumped on his land and deposited the lot on the culprits driveway. Word must have got around as he never had problems with flytipping afterwards.
