Hi All. thanks for the add.

I am considering getting an old manual slr. Used to have a Pentax K1000 and an ME shooting b&w and developing and printing myself.

Any other suggestions for a good basic slr? Never had a Nikon but considering the FE.

Hi, welcome. Don’t understand “add”. Camera choice is 90% personal preference. I’d look for a Canon Eos 3 series, I have a 50E but for some arcane reason the 3x series were later than the 5x series. They are not basic but you can use almost any camera in basic mode if you so wish.

Facebook originated term, people thank the 'group' owners for being added to the group after submitting a request.

I guess from that and from the statement by another new poster, than the new user signup process is more human interactive.

So basically, Robert is thanking us for adding him to our community.

OK thank you. I don't do Facebook - too intrusive.

I have JUST last week bought a Nikkormat EL, it has to be one of the best cameras I have owned. My first was a Nikon F Apollo FTn new, then a Nikkormat FTN, I( re bought an FT2 see below, nice, and re bought my original Praktica Super TL, I am happy with all three but the EL is superb

I got the EL from London Camera Exchange in MINT condition for £49.99 and I mean mint

    I have a 28mm and 50mm and a Vivitar 80-200 on the Nikons

You once had a good 'basic' SLR - the K1000. I had an MX which was like a smaller version of that, and used it for 27 years until I went digital and got a DSLR. I would suggest looking at the LCE website for ideas and see what fits your budget. Buy something for which there are lots of decent secondhand lenses available - something else that website may give to ideas about too.
