Hi all I have wanted to get into digital photography for a while now and I thoughtthis was a good place to start. I have been using a Fuji s9600 and would like to move to a DSLR. I have been offered a Nikon D70 for £80 inc 18-55 vr af-s lense. I know itis only 6MP but was wondering if this would be a good start in the real digitalworld. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Martin
Hi there. So your are near Dumfries and Galloway (only kidding) As for the Nikon D70 it would be nice to aim for a few more pixels. What do you mainly shoot on the s9600 and do you print you images? 6MP does not give you alot of cropping room. IMHO
I normally shoot the kids, dog etc some landscape and just view photos on the pc and make up slideshows from them. I have only printed a few out but it’s that important to me I had read a couple of reviews (a little out of date maybe) and it seems ok I would like to keep the budget down at the mo (looking to treat myself in the January sales to something in the mid teen MP wise) £150 - 200 for body & lens Any suggestions please ??
Welcome to the forum Martin I will leave it to other forum members to offer advice/opinion regards the camera/lens you have been offered. A 7+ year old DSLR, I wonder what other introduction to the world of a DSLR handling etc. you could get for £80 - I'm sure we'll be informed Pixel count is not everything… most importantly you should handle the camera, and others, and find out if it fits/feels comfortable to you or not. You may well be buying into a system long term. Further help stickies here.
