Sinister Steve, don't tell me to shut up because that would give support to my wife, and we are not having that.

Re your problem. If you want to spend some money and the urge is overwhelming might I suggest throwing away your present stock of lenses. Then go out , sober preferably and purchase two or three top quality Nikon prime lenses. I realise that this might create a shock to the system but photographically it might help.

On the other hand if you want to increase your photographic range re lenses then you do have a problem. At the moment your range is from 19mm --550mm with I presume at least one of the lenses having some macro facility. Well
There is a lovely little 12mm from the Voigtlander stable, O.K. whats another body? Do Nikon still make a 1000mm? Oh of course there is the 14mm Sigma and an 8mm Nikkor, the world is your oyster. I do notice the ommision of a perspective control lense in your basic armoury, just a thought.

Or you could always go and sit in Charley P's and enjoy yourself.

Shock to the system. I have just had to down the hall and smoke a whole pac of Davidoffs.

Right none of lenses has Macro.

As for a PC lens , only found one for Nikon and thats a Nikon and cost a fortune.

    I'll look at the 14mm and 8mm.

    Steve,

You are saved, good news! Nikon have made two P.C. lenses a 28mm and a 35mm. But as from memory the Nikkor 8mm costs about £1000 per millimetre I don't think you should go in that direction. I think Nikon also make a 12mm but from memory it is about the size of a dustbin lid and requires the actual bin to be filled with dosh to buy it.

So it might be a Macro?

There's a Russian 35mm PC lens that is available in a Nikon mount. Or how about an old-fashioned "standard" lens? Or a set of extension tubes?
    Just a few extra thoughts....

I didn't think Nikon made a PC lens, I thought Canon were the only camera manufacturer to do one, although I know there is a Russian one with a Nikon mount, an Arsat I think, although the name alone is enough to put you off.
As for a 1000mm, I dread to think what that would cost.I know Canon list a 1000mm/f5.6 USM, and about 4 or 5 years back the list price was £88,000. I've yet to find a dealer with one in stock./img/wwwthreads/smile.gif/img/wwwthreads/wink.gif

Yes Geoff, Nikon do an 85mm f2,8 PC/micro tele. at 1400UKP.

I look up the Arsat. Hope you are not taking the .....in Russian.

1000mm I think I would have to do bit of weight training even to think about one of these.

No young Geoff, listen to father. Nikon have made, or make two, are you listening? Questions will be asked later. Two Perspective Control lenses, a 28mm and a 35mm. In fact I had one to use on an R3 Leica some time ago. I also know that Uncle Clive has the 28mm. As regards Canon, I thought all their lenses had perspective control, even if Leitz and Nikon users would refer to it as distortion.

P.S. Before you start rattling your cage the lenses mount was changed, quite successfully 'as 'appens.

If you are going to bring common sense into this thread I would suggest that you might end up talking to yourself Nasty Nick. /img/wwwthreads/wink.gif

    Sorry, how foolish of me!
OK, then the best lens to buy, Steve, is the Mamiya 43mm for Mamiya 7.
