I was just wondering if you guys had any habits or foibles?

One thing I do is every time I finish using the washing machine is I will wipe down and dry the door and seal.

After using the loo I will always make sure the lid/seat is closed.

Another kind of foible I have is to close all the doors in my home.

So what habits or foibles do you have?

I cannot bear to see an electric socket switched on if there is no plug in it. My dad was convinced it was dangerous and his obsession rubbed off on me

If you use an ultraviolet lamp in total darkness you can see the electricity trickling out of a switched on socket without a plug in it...

    ...honest! :D :D :D

So when does a habit/foible become OCD?

And should I be worried about always making sure that anything that can be turned off is when I leave the flat?

Beat me to it. Also when I go to bed. I check all the electrical outlets and turn off those I can.

Are you sure it wasn’t to stop the electricity leaking out onto the floor?

I have found electricians are the worst offenders.

I hate it when someone switches the plug off at the wall. I plug something in, turn the appliance on and then wonder why it isn't working. Curse a bit, then realise someone had previously turned the switch off. Grrrr

I think I got a switch-off compulsion ever since my brother (such a nice boy) told me (a kid) to pull a plug out of a socket in the kitchen. My little fingers curled around the plug as it came out - and I ended up against the opposite wall.

I rub satin labels. As a baby I had a blanket with a satin strip along the top, which I would rub until I fell asleep. Ever since then I've rubbed satin. If you ever see me with my hand down the back of my shirt you will know what I'm doing.

When a) It is someone else that does it, plus b) it starts to piss you off.
Glad to have cleared that up. :D

As long as you stick to your own shirt you should be OK.

I smoked for nearly 30 years, for roughly 25 of those years I smoked between 40 to 50 cigarettes a day.

I gave up cold turkey 11 years ago

I was only 20 a day but after several failed attempts I stopped 17 years ago.
"Cold Turkey" but I doubt if I would have managed it without the Allen Carr book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" which I would unhesitantly recommend to any nicotine user - regardless of whether or not they wish to stop. Without it I rather doubt if I would still be here.

Growing old, though I doubt I'll be able to break the habit.

    Yep, me too.

In my case, I think it dates to the time I went out for a couple of hours and had left the oven on and slightly open. When I got back, the flat was tropical!
