hello, can anybody please advise me if it worth buying a x2 telephoto lens to enable me to get the action closer when taking motorsport pictures.

what are the advantages/disadvantages and should i use a filter or not, should i stick with the original lens and just add a zoom or go for the 55mm-58mm converter

any suggestions/tips welcome

 

Where will you be sitting? Trackside or in the grandstands? Do you mean a x2 teleconverter, or a focal length of twice the "standard" length?

FWIW my avatar photo was taken from the grandstands at Silverstone on a 3.2 Mpix compact camera, 3x zoom, and was extracted from a much, much larger photo

this is what i am thinking of buying for my camera, i stand on the straight normally during a grasstrack meeting, just after the exit of the corners. when at rockingham i was on the end of the finishing straight.
